Davao Dining: Coco’s South Bistro & Chika-an Resto

I RECENTLY went on a Road Trip Around Mindanao. With only a day of staying at home, I traveled again to attend a seminar in Davao, where I also took the opportunity to roam around and have some fun like dining and chilling out with friends in some of Davao‘s cool spots.

If you are into pasta, pizza, or steak, Coco’s South Bistro is the best place for you. Coco’s South Bistro is located in Davao City‘s food and party strip: F. Torres St.

I went there at around 6:00pm and there were already a handful of diners in the place, mostly foreigners. The restaurant has a homey feel and the room is bathed in calming yellowish light. The seats were mostly for a large group. I told one of the staff that I’m only looking for a seat for one and he directed me to a table near one of the corners.

There are a lot of food choices at Coco’s South Bistro. It’s good to bring your family there. For myself, I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese and Sensuous Durian Shake.

Sadly, they don’t wifi, so I had to use my Globe Tattoo dongle to stay connected while dining.

I’ve heard, Coco’s South Bistro is opening in GenSan soon. The old McDonald’s beside KCC Mall of GenSan will open as Coco’s South Bistro GenSan branch. I’m excited.

Chika-an at Abreeza

With teacher friends from Cagayan de Oro, I went to the newly opened Abreeza Ayala Mall in Davao. Restaurants and branches of some fast food chains are lined up along the path walk connecting the entrances to the mall. It was about 7:00PM when we arrived there and the shops were already teeming with people. We chose the brightly lit Chika-an.

Chika-an has its roots in Cebu and they serve famous Filipino dishes. We ordered Pochero Steak, Grilled Bangus, and Sizzling Tuna Belly.

I enjoyed the Pochero Steak that was cooked very well, the meat falls off the bone so easily.

After dinner, I met blogger friend, Richard Diongson and his friend, Charlz, who partied with me the whole night. I will tell you more about our boys’ night out in my next post.
